Enzo Lazzaro, managing director of Brown&Co, interviewed by the monthly magazine "L'Impresa - Rivista Italiana di Management," explains how in the automotive industry, the dangers of a bad generational transition are addressed with the help ofad hoc projects implemented to support family businesses.
"Faced with the need to ensure the continuity of car dealerships, car manufacturers have asked us for a specific project to accompany them in the generational handover. Toyota Motor Italia which has the issue very much at heart, for example, has set up with us a project that includes an initial meeting on the issue of generational handover to raise awareness that is often not there, then with the companies that continue we do a check up on organizational and business issues, typical of the company, and relational issues, typical of the family. Our team is multidisciplinary, psychologists and organizational consultants work together from the beginning. After the check up we draw up the continuity plan, which includes very specific goals and deadlines both in terms of coaching and training for the new generation."
